Legendary Tamil music composer M. S. Viswanathan passes away
Although he showed signs of recovery, his condition deteriorated
Mumbai: Renowned music composer M.S Vishwanathan died at a private hospital in Chennai on Tuesday morning. He was 87. Vishwanathan was being treated for old-age related ailments and respiratory problems.
Affectionately called ‘MSV’ and ‘Mellisai Mannar’ by his fans and the film fraternity has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital a couple of days ago.
Although he showed signs of recovery and was ready to be discharged, his condition deteriorated.
'MSV,' a household name in Tamil Nadu, has scored music for hundreds of films, including Tamil and other languages and his association with iconic lyricist of yesteryear 'Kaviyarasu' Kannadasan is legendary in giving evergreen songs.
His brilliant partnership with Ramamurthy, also a music composer, is historic as the duo produced super hit songs. Together they had the famous creditline of 'Viswanathan-Ramamurthy.'
'Sonnathu Needhana' (Nenjil Oru Alayam), 'Viswanathan Velai Vendum' (Kadalikka Neram Illai), 'Kettavarellam Padalam' (Thangai) are among MSV’s all time favourites that are still popular in Tamil Nadu.
Viswanathan’s journey began with Panam (Tamil, 1952) and his career graph continued to be on the rise for decades after that.
