Lanes of old city through lenses
Move over Food Walks, it is time for Photo Walks
Photographers are taking to the streets around Charminar to capture the essence of Ramzan. And not just professional, even amateur photographers are making the most of this season. “This is the best time to visit the Old City — you have food, culture, history, people, festive mood... all in one shot. The place is beaming with people till late in the night and you get to see a different side of the city, giving you a perfect frame for your photos,” says U. Vinod Kumar, a professional wedding photographer who, in his free time, does street photography.
“People take a lot of photos of Charminar, but nobody tries to observe the small little things along the road. There are a lot of patterns and colours across the Old City, which makes for good photos,” says Vinod. He shares a tip, “When you get there, try to think different from the routine. Everybody captures the monument, but you must try to be different than the rest — try to tell a story through your photos.”
It was Chaitanya Pai’s first visit to Charminar during Ramzan and he admits to have been amazed by the hustle and bustle of the city during this time. “I did not go with an idea that ‘this is what I want to capture’. This was my first visit to Charminar during Ramzan and I tried to capture the essence of the season,” says Chaitanya, a working professional and amateur photographer.
