Riders and enthusiasts of the legendary Czech Republic-based Jawa Moto began gathering at the Deccan Club in Marredpally early on Sunday morning, with over 90 of them taking part in a ride that went around the city. With bikes from as early as 1961 at the roadshow, the event was also an opportunity for Jawa fans to exchange ideas and information about their beloved bikes, as well as learn about where to find the best parts and mechanics in the city to keep them in top shape.

Vijay Marur, who owned a 1969 edition Jawa himself, said that the best part about the event was that there were more youngsters. “There was a brilliant collection of bikes, each almost pristinely restored. I expected to see a lot of old people with old bikes, but there were hardly any. The rest were youngsters who discovered a passion for the bikes. We were probably outnumbered ten to one by the youth.

Jaiveer Rao, who founded JAYCOH in 2013, says the event also saw a few collector’s edition bikes that were on display, like a 1965 Jawa import. He added, “While the group is specifically for Jawa and Yezdi fans, anyone can take part in the events, if interested,” says Jaideep. For this, all you need to do is join their Facebook page. “You can even approach someone to buy a bike,” he adds.
