THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The CBI special court here on Monday ordered further investigation into the mysterious death of Narayanan Namboothiri’s family at Kaviyoor in 2004.

It rejected the CBI’s third  probe report that suggested that  minor girl Anagha was sexually abused by her father, terming it as illogical.  This is  for the fourth time that the court is ordering a further probe.

The court criticised the CBI for reaching a conclusion without any scientific evidence  and directed the CBI officials to make sincere efforts to unearth the truth. Narayanan Namboothiri’s brother Unnikrishnan Namboothiri had challenged the CBI report.

The court said the CBI’s conclusion that Anagha was sexually abused by her father a few days prior to  their death was  based merely on circumstances.  The crucial statements of Anagha's friend were also ignored.

Narayanan Namboothiri, his wife Sobhana,  daughters Anagha, 15, and Akhila, 7,  and  Akshay, 5, were found dead in their house on September 28, 2004.

The initial suspicion was that the family committed suicide owing to the embarrassment over providing a hideout to Killiroor sex scandal convict Latha Nair.

The CBI’s assumption that Anagha was sexually abused by her father was based on the statements of the witnesses that no other males had visited the house during the two days prior to their death and that Anagha had  not gone  out of her house.

The post-mortem examination on Anagha indicated that she was raped days ahead of her death.
