CBIT hits out at Telangana proposal
Threatens legal action against government
Hyderabad: The management of the city-based CBIT has alleged that the state government’s reported proposal to take-over the institution is a ‘blackmailing tactic’ and said that they will not be cowed down.
The management has alleged that several TS ministers, including T. Harish Rao, besides the Speaker and Chairman of Telangana Legislative Assembly and Council, top IAS and IPS officers have been sending recommendation letters, seeking management quota seats in CBIT. They said that since these were not being honoured, the college was being harassed.
They said TRS MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy had hatched a conspiracy with the support of the government to defame the college as he had been denied membership in the CBIT society.
At a press conference on Monday, Dr V. Malakonda Reddy, president, CBIT, said, “This is the first private engineering college in Telangana and Hyderabad started in 1979 with 13 members representing all the three regions of undivided AP.
He asked how could the government take over a private college, which had its own assets of Rs 1,300 crore. He also said that the society had not taken even a single paisa concession from the government.
Stating that they had not received any communication from the government, he said, “We will be forced to initiate legal action against the government if it goes ahead on this.”
