Stalker kills two sisters in Hyderabad's Chaitanyapuri
Police have booked a case and formed five teams to catch the armed assailant
Hyderabad: A stalker-turned-psychopath went on a stabbing spree killing two girls inside their house at Chaitanyapuri on Tuesday morning. Srilekha, 18, a B Tech student, and her sister Yamini, 19, succumbed to injuries after they were rushed to a local hospital, while the attacker fled from the scene despite the locals tried to catch him.
The assailant has been identified as Amit Singh, a B. Com student from Jagruthi college Narayanguda. Police said that he had been stalking Srilekha for the last two years, and he came to take revenge after she rejected him. Officials said that they are probing into the motive further.
The incident occured at around 8.45 at the victims’ house in commercial tax colony when their parents had gone for work. “Amit stepped into their house with a sharp weapon and tried to attack Srilekha, while Yamini tried to stop him. He stabbed her several times on stomach, and then attacked Srilekha. Few locals noticed and rushed the victims to hospital, while the attacker fled,” said LB nagar DCP Mr. Tafseer Iqubal.
According to the investigation officials, Amit Singh and Srilekha had studied together when they were pursuing intermediate. Srilekha then switched to Sagar engineering college at Chevella. Yamini had finished her B Tech last year.
Both families of the victim and the attacker hail from Mahabubnagar district. Victims’ father Krishna Reddy is an employee in RTC while their mother Hymavathi works with Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan.
