BENGALURU: The Karnataka High Court on Monday directed the central government to pay Rs 3 lakh as compensation within three weeks to Ms N.S. Leesha, who sustained severe leg injuries in the Malleswaram bomb blast in 2013.

She had approached the court seeking directions to the state government to pay her a compensation of Rs 1 crore, and had also sought a job under the disabled quota. She had asked the court to direct the government to bear all her present and future medical expenses.

She had asked the central government to come out with a national policy for those affected by terror attacks. Leesha, who is doing her Bachelor in Computer Applications (BCA) course, has undergone several major surgeries. Nearly 18 people were injured in the Malleswaram blast near the BJP office.

Earlier, Leesha’s advocate submitted highlighting the case of medical expenses of Housing Minister Ambareesh. He argued that he is not upset with the state spending on the minister’s expenses but the government’s should treat common people on the same platform specially those suffer due to terror and unfortunate events.

High Court relief to Moily

The high court on Monday quashed proceedings against former Union minister Veerappa Moily in a case registered against him in April 2014 for allegedly violating conditions imposed by the returning officer on a procession during the campaigning for the Lok Sabha elections. The court quashed the case, citing procedural violation while taking cognisance of the offence.
