Religious fervour peaks in Karimnagar

Around 7,000 cop including volunteers of religious organisations were deployed

KarimnagarEverything is set and ready for the 12 day long auspicious river fete, of Godavari Pushkaralu. Religious fervour has already filled the air. Many families have begun travelling to the ghats for the mass holy bathing ceremony. Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao will formally launch Pushkaralu in Dharmapuri on Tuesday at 6.21 am.  Elaborate arrangements have been made at 22 venues located in district for organising the fete on a grand scale.
 
Karimnagar district is poised for this once-in-12 years-festival featuring a mass congregation of several lakhs of devotees and pilgrims from not only Telangana, but also neighbouring Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra states. Incidentally, this mega event is the maiden one following the creation of the separate Telangana state. Around 20 lakh devotees are expected to take part in the mass holy bathing event.
 
In the district, Dharmapuri, Kaleshwaram, Manthani, Koti Lingala is considered to be the most-sought after destinations among the 22 venues identified for conducting the event. As many as 36 ghats have been erected at these venues. Unprecedented arrangements and facilities were made at a cost of Rs 122.78 crore for the benefit of the devotees.
 
In order to prevent occurrence of untoward incidents, around 7,000 police personnel including volunteers.
