Is it a church? Is it a chicken? We don't know for sure, but this  giant bird structure nests quietly in the hills of Central Java, Indonesia and has caught the attention of netizens.

It is no surprise as to how this building earned its name. With its red beak raised to the sky as if in mid-cluck, it looks like a giant chicken will come to life at any moment, but according to reports, it's a church. The building’s length, vaulted ceiling and steeple-like head suggest the body of a supposed church.

The building, which protrudes above the trees and is known locally as Gereja Ayam – according to the Huffington Post. The Chicken Church has long been abandoned, but is suddenly doing the rounds of the social media. Daniel Alamsjah, 67, is the man behind the structure. He told the Jakarta Globe that he built it after having a vision of a dove-shaped "prayer house" on a hill in 1989.

Despite the Chicken Church’s deteriorating condition, people continue to be drawn to the odd and place.
