Tiruchy: Tension prevailed for a while at the Collectorate at Tiruchy on Tuesday, when Ganesan, younger brother of Tamil Nadu Khadi and Village Industries Minister Poonatchi came to file a petition before the personal assistant to the collector (General) Mrs. Jayashree, saying that his elder brother Poonatchi had cheated him and grabbed family property worth Rs 1 crore, by using fabricated documents.

According to Mr Ganesan, a piece of land (1.22 acre) in Neively north village near Tiruchy was in the name of their father Periya Poonatchi, who has four sons including minister Poonatchi. They established a factory on the land by availing a bank loan, and after his father’s death in 2003, the factory closed down.

After he became a minister, his elder brother Poonatchi, obtained the signatures of all three brothers a few months ago on a blank empty judiciary stamp paper worth Rs 20, saying that since the bank loan was settled, they had to get back the land documents from the bank.

Recently, they came to know that Poonatchi had transferred the entire land, worth Rs 1 crore, in his name by preparing fake documents, Mr Ganesan added. He added that he had already filed a similar petition before revenue divisional officer Musiri and based on his petition, the village administrative officer of their village Vijayabaskar held enquiries with him on Monday. He wanted necessary action to be taken against the village administrative officer of Neively village Vijayabaskar and tahsildar Musiri as they had allegedly helped the minister in the preparation of fake documents.
