The Nicolas Anelka-coached side will start their campaign against FC Pune City
Mumbai: Mumbai City FC have retained Czech defender Pavel Cmov and signed up Haitian striker Sony Norde for the second season of Indian Super League (ISL) starting October 3.
Pavel, who had an excellent inaugural season, comes in to strengthen the Mumbai team's defense while Norde, who was the star striker scoring 11 goals for I-League champions Mohun Bagan last season, adds extra firepower upfront.
The Nicolas Anelka-coached side including India National team captain Sunil Chhetri will start their campaign against FC Pune City on October 5.
"I'm extremely happy and excited to be back for Mumbai City FC for the ISL. The fans never gave up last year and I want to ensure that we give them more victories to cheer for this season," said Pavel on being retained by Mumbai City FC.
"I am extremely happy to have been signed for Mumbai City FC. I can't wait to join my new team for the pre season training. The ISL is a new challenge for me and I am looking forward to helping Mumbai City FC achieve success," said Norde, on his move.
Post his stint with Mumbai City FC in the inaugural season of ISL when he made 13 appearances, Pavel played for Rapid Bucuresti.
The 6 ft 2 inch defender, who has represented his country at youth level (From U-17 to U-21), plied his trade in the top tier of PFC Levski Sofia in Bulgaria before appearing in ISL and enabling Mumbai City FC to keep six clean sheets in season 1.
After a trial with Mexican side San Luis FC, Norde was able to secure a spot at Argentine club Boca Juniors and played for the reserve team. He made a good impression while playing for San Luis FC's B team, scoring 8 goals.
