Anees Bazmee feeling ignored by his heroes?
Filmmaker feels that his leading men have moved on and don’t have dates to spare for him
Filmmaker Anees Bazmee feels that his leading men have moved on and don’t have dates to spare for him anymore. The Welcome Back director says, “Akshay Kumar’s absence from Welcome Back has triggered off rumours about a fallout between us. Firstly, he was busy with his other films. My script gave me the liberty to change Akshay’s character in the film and rope in John Abraham for the role. I had to start the film.”
What fuelled the fallout rumours further was the fact that Prabhudheva was roped in to direct Akshay-starrer Singh Is Bling, the sequel to Anees’s film Singh Is Kinng. “To get a new director for the film was Akshay’s decision. I’m very happy about Prabhu and his association. I hope the film does as well as Singh Is Kinng,” he says.
Anees also reveals some details about the long delayed sequel of No Entry. “Boney has worked out the budget and I’ve worked on the script. The core cast will remain the same but the film can’t happen without Salman. We need his bulk dates and he’s a busy star,” he says.
Anees says he is comfortable in the genre people associate him with. Anees says, “I make a film when I stumble upon a good script. Costume dramas or period films will also happen at the right time. I admire Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Ashutosh Gowariker for adding more brilliance to their work. At the end of the day, we all want our films to make money so that it enables us to make more films. So long that is happening I’m happy with the status of the genres I’m associated with.”
