Hyderabad: Stalker avoided friends and family after Srilekha rejected him
Killer’s friends said Srilekha was once very close to him
Hyderabad: Amit Singh, who stabbed two siblings to death at Kothapet on Tuesday, had been avoiding his family and friends for the last two months after the victim, Srilekha, had rejected him.
His friends from Shadnagar said that she was very close to him earlier and used to talk to him. He also used to visit her family when they lived in Shadnagar. The two had even eloped once in 2012 and the police had to trace them.
“Amit’s father had lodged a missing complaint in 2012 when they had gone somewhere without telling their parents. They were traced later and the parents had tried to separate them,” said one of Amit’s friends from Shadnagar. The two, however, continued to meet after that.

Srilekha had stopped talking to Amit two months back and answering his calls. “He started stalking her as she continued to avoid him. This went on for two months before he reached her house with a knife,” said a police official from LB Nagar. Special teams from LB Nagar zone are still searching for Amit, who is absconding. Police suspect that he must be hiding in the city.
Amit’s family came from Uttar Pradesh 30 years back and settled at Shadnagar. He met Srilekha when they were studying Intermediate. On Tuesday, Amit came to Srilekha’s house at Kothapet and stabbed her. When her sister Yamini tried to stop him he stabbed her too. Both sisters succumbed to their injuries at a local hospital.
