HyderabadLocals chased two suspected thieves at Dabeerpura on Wed-nesday and caught them. The drunk thieves, who jumped into a lake in order to escape, were pulled out and beaten up. Cops seized a stolen bike and cash from the duo who belong to Nizamabad.

The duo had stolen a bike from Tukaram-gate. However, the vehicle stopped at Osmannagar as it ran out of fuel. Since they were inebriated, they sat on the roadside. A few locals became suspicious and asked them why they were sitting there. Reluctant to answer, they started arguing with them.

“The passersby called more people as the duo were behaving aggressively. As more people came they started running. Locals chased them till Farhatnagar where they jumped into the lake. They pulled them out and informed us,” said a police officer from Dabeerpura. Locals said the thieves were injured as they were roughed up by the crowd. Police found that the vehicle was stolen and a resident from Tukaramgate identified his bike.

When asked their names, the duo kept saying different names. The police has contacted Nizamabad cops to establish their identity.
