Vijayawada: AP Opposition leader Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy taking a holy bath at the Godavari Pushkaralu with a cross hanging around his neck has led to a controversy on the social media. CII former president and member of various government committees, Y. Harish Chandra Prasad, posted a video of Mr Reddy on Facebook taking the holy dip.

“What? Doing Hindu ritual wearing a cross. When did Christians started believing in Hindu gods. Will be a good publicity material for VHP and RSS (sic),” posted Mr Prasad.

Users on YSRC’s official page commented that Mr Reddy was a Hindu since he took part in a Hindu festival while others pointed out his mother, Ms Y.S. Vijayamma, carrying a Bible during electioneering. There were also many users who supported Mr Reddy stating that it was his prerogative.
