Oommen Chandy calls meet on opening of Cancer Centre on July 20
The meeting has been convened following a submission raised by Hibi Eden in the Assembly

KOCHI: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will convene a meeting of people’s representatives and officials in his chamber on July 20 to speed up the formalities to realise the Kochi cancer centre.
In a release issued here, Hibi Eden MLA said that the meeting would be atten-ded by health minister V.S. Sivakumar, PWD minister V.K. Ebrahim Kunju, excise minister K. Babu, civil supplies minister Anoop Jacob, K.V. Thomas MP, MLAs from Ernakulam district, secretaries in the health and finance departments, Ernakulam district collector M.G. Rajamanickam, Kalamassery municipal chairman Jamal Manak-kadan, cancer centre special officer Dr V.P. Gangadharan, Ernakulam District Co-operative Bank president N.P. Paulose, apart from Hibi Eden himself.
The meeting has been convened following a submission raised by Hibi Eden in the Assembly pointing to the paralysis that has hit the cancer centre project. He said work had not yet started even close to a year after the foundation stone was laid by the Chief Minister.
Hibi Eden said that the meeting would discuss the possibilities of implementing the project under the annuity scheme and also availing a loan from the Ernakulam DCB for implementing the project. He also said measures for appointing an IAS officer as a full-time officer to implement the project would also be taken at the meeting.
