The shooting of Jayam Ravi’s Appatakkar wrapped up some time ago and the film is getting ready for release. The movie has Trisha and Anjali playing the female leads while Soori plays a pivotal role. The title of the film raised curiosity right from the beginning as it was a term which was made popular by Santhanam in the movie Boss Engira Bhaskaran. The team has now opted for a change in title in the last minute due to tax issues. The title for the movie is now Sakalakala Vallavan.
A source says, “The crew decided to change the title as they felt that the old title would exclude the movie from tax benefits since it had a non-Tamil word. The filmmakers therefore zeroed in on the title Sakalakala Vallavan.”
Many films of late have been titled with the names of Rajinikanth’s yesteryear films and popular one-liners. Interestingly, Sakalakala Vallavan is the name of Kamal Haasan’s film which was released in 1982 directed by SP Muthuraman. However, this Jayam Ravi-starrer has got nothing to do with it. The source adds, “Like Kamal’s old film, this movie too is high on entertainment, comedy, fun and romance. The filmmakers have sought the permission of AVM Saravanan, one of the producers of this yesteryear blockbuster. The movie might hit the screens later this month.”
