79 per cent feel they can escape helmet rule by bribing: Survey
The mandatory wearing of helmet has led to a surge in its demand
Chennai: A recent survey among youngsters in Tamil Nadu revealed that 79 per cent of respondents were of the opinion they can escape from the new helmet rule by corruption, including bribing. As many as 1,500 people participated in the survey conducted among users of a mobile app that promises to give free recharge for watching videos and completing simple polls and surveys. More than 51 per cent of the respondents said punishments of impounding documents and vehicles could be relaxed.
While majority think they can escape by corruption, 70 per cent of the respondent accept the fact the government should take action. As many as 72 per cent of the respondents purchased new ISI marked head gears while others started using their old helmets.The mandatory wearing of helmet has led to a surge in its demand, participants to the survey said.
so, the sharp increase in the price of the headgear is because of the new rule, 1044 of the total 1500 respondent said.Nearly 51 per cent of the respondent found it difficult to locate ISI certified helmets.The survey was conducted by Airloyal, a market place for mobile engagements.
