KARIMNAGARA baby crocodile was spotted by devotees near a bathing ghat when they were taking their holy dip in the Godavari at Vemulak-urthi village in Ibrahimpatnam mandal on Thursday. 
 
As pilgrims panicked, expert divers deployed at the ghat captured the crocodile in a net. It was later released by Forest officials at the Chintakuru Godavari basin. Divisi-onal forest official (west) D. Narsaiah said that forest officials rushed to the spot.
 
 and rescued it upon being informed by expert divers and members of the rescue team. The five-month old crocodile, measuring 2-feet, was released in the basin of the river near Chintakuru, he said. 
 
Cautionary boards will be erected at the ghat from Friday, he added. According to sources, Forest officials had cautioned Revenue officials about the presence of crocodiles in the river near Vemulakurthi village. But devotees were not cautioned about the same.
