Devout demand two-day holiday for Eid
CM had earlier declared that Id would be a two-day affair
Hyderabad: The State Minorities Commission has asked the state government to declare Friday and Saturday as a holiday in view of Id-ul-Fitr preparations.
Friday is Jummat-ul-Vida, the last Friday of Ramzan, which is considered very auspicious as the devout offer a lot of prayers on this day.
Abid Rasool Khan, chairman of the commission said, “Saturday will be required for preparations before Id and for that reason many institutions, schools and colleges have requested us to represent to the government to declare a government holiday.”
Mr Khan explained that the last Friday’s prayers are very important and it is coinciding with the preparations of Id this year and for that reason people have come forward with this request.
He said, “As the CM had earlier declared that Id would be a two-day affair, people have come forward to ask for a holiday one day before Id.”
