Hyderabad's Gandhi Hospital nurses arrested
The nurses are also want an increase in their pay from Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000
Hyderabad: All the 200 temporary nurses of Gandhi Hospital were taken into police custody and kept in Bolaram police station from 1 pm on Thursday.
On the fourth day of their strike, the nurses were sitting on the steps of the hospital and demanding that their demands to be fulfilled.
The hospital authorities called the police to move the nurses away and they were forcefully picked up, put in police vans and driven away.
M. Narasimha. representing the Gandhi Hospital Outsourcing Nursing Staff, said, “We had a meeting with the principal secretary and health minister. They asked us to withdraw the strike first and then they will look into our demands.” He said that the officials were sympathetic.
“We are going to discuss the response and then decide on the course of action,” Mr Narasimha said.
The nurses are demanding that their services be made permanent as they have been working at the hospital for 10 years.
The nurses are also want an increase in their pay from Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000.
