Rajahmundry: Passengers are forced to jump out to get down from the trains and climb  in to get into the trains at Godavari railway station due to insufficient platform length at Rajahmundry. Passengers criticising railway authorities and said that despite knowing the problem at the Godavari railway station, they did not alter the platform.

According to the official data provided by the Station Superintendent G. Vasu, about 25,000 passengers boarded from the station on Wednesday alone apart from arriving passengers from all over the state.
Mr  Vasu, while admitting the problem said they were helpless on the issue.

He also elaborated that the location of the station itself is a problem. The station was categorised under the third category station and to extend the platform was somewhat difficult.

Mr  Vasu explained that, they could not extend the platform towards Kovvuru since the station has already touched the bridge on the river Godavari. The station superintendent also said that there is a problem in extending the platform towards Rajahmundry city, where the residents occupied the land across the tracks and built houses.
