Chennai: Condeming DMK chief M. Karunanidhi’s remark on Chief Minister J.Jayalalithaa's health, state finance minister O. Panneerselvam said their beloved leader had never talked about her political rivals' health for political gains. While addressing a large gathering of party cadres and functionaries at Alandur on Wednesday night to thank Chief Minister Jayalalithaa’s initiative to run metro rail in the city, Mr. Panneerselvam questioned the DMK leader whether he was aware of the political decency. “Expecting political decency from Karunanidhi is anyway wrong. Has our Amma ever spoken about the health of political rivals?” he asked.

The finance minister also said that people had relegated Karunanidhi to a corner and he was desperately trying to make an electoral comeback, which would not happen. “People will not forgive Karunanidhi and his dream of making a comeback will never happen,” he added. Pointing out the Mr Karunanidhi’s statement that he (Panneerselvam) would cry if he visits the DMK leader in private, Mr Pannerselvam said “the world knew who wept everyday. It was Karunanidhi who wept everyday over son’s squabbles... Stop making such remarks, else we will be giving a befitting reply,” he added.
