Arun Vaidyanathan to direct Arjun in his next
Arjun will be essaying the role of a stylish, calm and composed cop
Filmmaker Arun Vaidyanthan, who did Achchamundu! Achchamundu! starring Prasanna and Sneha in 2009, is back in Kollywood with a crime thriller in which actor Arjun essays the role of a stylish, calm and composed cop.
“I approached Arjun and he accepted immediately. He has this ‘action king’ tag, who can do only high-octane powerful stunts and sequences. But this film will show him in a different light — we are going to have a makeover for him!” Arun tells DC. “Actually, my dad is a huge fan of Arjun. He always comments on how the star has taken care of his physique so well,” he says.
Revealing more details about the film, Arun says that the film doesn’t have a stereotypical female lead. “No, the hero’s wife isn’t the heroine in this film,” he laughs and reiterates that every character is important. “There’s an intelligent female character in the film, but I can’t discuss more right now, as there is some suspense involved,” he adds.
Arun, who has directed Mohanlal in Peruchazhi, says he always wanted to do more Tamil films since they are close to his heart, “When I did Achchamundu... the women in the audience really liked the film so that motivated me to come back here and do different films. This Arjun-starrer will entirely be shot in India and I am hoping to finish the shoot by this year end,” he signs off.
