Hyderabad: In a measure to strengthen the security at Cherlapally Central Prison, a platoon of Octopus commandos will be soon deployed there.

Sources say the move comes in the wake of rumours that terrorist Yasin Bhatkal is planning to escape from the prison. A 30-member Octopus platoon will monitor security there.

Earlier in July, conversations of Yasin Bhatkal with his wife and mother were intercepted by intelligence agencies revealed he is planning an escape with the help of foreign-based terror outfits. However, the officials denied the reports.

“We do not have any such information. We have increased security, but Octopus is not involved” said a senior official from the prison. The prison also houses thirteen terrorists being prosecuted in different cases.
