Kerala Technological University: New mode for question paper setting
The KTU expert committee will select five question papers from those sent from the 152 colleges
Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Technological University will introduce a unique method for question-paper setting which would ensure the participation of all teachers from the engineering colleges.
Question papers for each subject will be invited from the teachers concerned of all the 152 affiliated engineering colleges. One college would be asked to submit one question paper each of the branches offered for BTech.
The KTU expert committee will select five question papers from those sent from the 152 colleges. One among the five would be selected on the basis of a lot. KTU Pro-Vice-Chancellor M. Abdu Rahman told DC that till date the universities selected a teacher and entrusted him/her with setting the question paper. It is planned stop the practice of setting the question papers from those of the previous years. Emphasis would be given to application-oriented questions to curb the practice of learning by heart.
This would ensure an increase in quality, Mr Rahman said. The KTU organised a workshop for selected teachers the other day when they were asked to prepare model question papers for the 16 papers of various branches of the first semester B Tech.
The model question papers would be sent to students, teachers and experts for getting their feedback. All the examination activities would be through online, Mr Rahman said.
