Mosques decked up for Eid-ul-Fitr near Jagadamba Junction

Visakhapatnam: The Muslim community in the City of Destiny is preparing to end its month-long fasting and is all set to celebrate Id-ul-Fitr on Saturday with prayers and feasts at mosques near Jagadamba Junction, One Town area, Akkayya-palem, Maddilapalem, Gajuwaka and a few other areas in Vizag. Preparation has been made for the Idgahs at different places in the city and the largest congregational prayers known as Salaatal-Id would take place at Mecca Masjid located at Jagadamba Junction in the city with more than 15,000 devotees offering prayers around 9.20 am led by chief imam of the Mecca Masjid Sabuddin Siddiqui.

Meanwhile, thousands of Muslims, after taking bath, are heading to perform special congregational prayers at prominent mosques in the city from morning. Almost all the mosques are decked up and illuminated in the city for Id-ul-Fitr, while the Bohra Muslims celebrated Ramzan on Friday.

Sheik Zuber said that Id-ul-Fitr is a day of great merriment and they would celebrate the day with friends and family. Meanwhile, city police has made necessary security arrangements near all the major mosques in the city.

Thousands of Muslims on Friday thronged the shopping malls and fruit shops in the city to purchase new clothes and fruits others to celebrate their festival in a grand manner.
