Mumbai: “I grew up to the strains of radio commentary coming from the transistor in my father’s study. I hero-worshipped my father and grew curious about this game that he loved so much. His idea of a day well-spent was going to watch cricket and my brother Vijay and I were encouraged to tag along,” said an unplugged former India captain Rahul Dravid, as the batting legend shared an emotional video on his cricketing journey on his Facebook page.

Termed as ‘The Wall’ in a cricket-crazy nation such as India, Dravid is synonymous with understated elegance, grit and putting the team before self.

In the video, Dravid himself narrates his heart-warming story right from his birth, struggle, rapid resurgence, subsequent lodging at the top of the world and much more.

Dravid, who recently took up the coaching job of the India ‘A’ team, went back in time to share with his fans what came before his career. Pictures of him being cradled by his father, his first cricket and hockey teams, stories of his mother's 'delicious chutney sandwiches' being gobbled down by his teammates and the like will surely leave you spellbound.

The video also shows newspaper clippings of little Rahul Dravid during his younger days till the time he grew up to be one of the country’s best produced Indian cricketers alongside Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar and Kapil Dev.
