Chennai: L.A. Hariprasad and S. Subhashini both hail from Salem. But they would prefer to do their Bachelor of Architecture from Coimbatore, not only because it has many reputed colleges but also for the weather and culture.

Hariprasad (18) said he has visited Coimbatore several times. “Salem also has one or two colleges for architecture. But I prefer to go to Coimbatore, as the weather is pleasant there and also it has more number of colleges. I want Tamil Nadu School of Architecture in Coimbatore,” he said. He is hopeful of getting through.

S. Subhashini who loves drawing and has won many competitions, wants to take up architecture. Her preference has always been Coimbatore because of its location near the Western Ghats and the fresh breeze that flows. She is nervous that seats in Coimbatore were filling up so fast.

When asked about college preferences in Chennai, she said she could not stand Chennai’s weather. Her first preference was to go for fashion technology, but she chose architecture as it seems more interesting. “I wanted something like construction of building and such things. As against engineering, architecture allows one to be innovative,” she said.

R. Sanjay Rhitheesh, who has been a chess player at the regional level from Madurai, said he would either choose MEASI Academy of Architecture in Chennai or SVS school of architecture, Coimbatore. His choice of Coimbatore is because he has relatives living in the city as well as its scenic beauty. After waiting for almost whole day, both Subhashini and Hariprasad got their college of preference in Coimbatore.
