Gurkha Rainforest Challenge is back
Second edition of the event to be held in Goa from July 24 to July 31.
Hyderabad: Force Gurkha Rainforest Challenge (RFC), organised by Cougar Motorsport is all set for its second edition to be held in Goa from July 24 to July 31. Around 40 teams from across the country will be battling it out for the RFC India 2015 trophy wherein they will have to successfully complete 24 Special Stages. The stages are divided into four competitive legs — the Prologue, the Predator, the Terminator and the Twilight Zone.
RFC debuted in India 2014 and is considered to be the country’s only international off-road motorsport event. Last year teams of Force Motors finished in the top two positions while Gerrari Off-Roaders from Chandigarh finished third. RFC India makes use of a point system format, where points are gives after successful completion of tasks. Penalties can be levied on drivers in case of infringement, destruction to flora and fauna and other offences. The team with maximum points at the end of all 24 Stages will be declared as the winner.
Speaking about the race, Ashish Gupta, Founder and Director of Cougar Motorsport said, “Force Gurkha RFC India took off-road motorsport in India to a different platform. Indian off-roaders leap-frogged the 18 years over which the event has been held in Malaysia to come out at par with the best of driving skill. Now that the competitors are aware of what to expect our aim for this edition is to make it bigger, badder and tougher.”
Launched in 1997 in Malaysia, RFC is counted amongst top-ten toughest motor races as it tests the driving and vehicle recovery skills of the racers under extreme off-road conditions.
