Bosch plans to invest Rs 400 crore in Chennai facility

Home appliances major, Bosch said it envisages to invest Rs 400 crore in its Chennai  facility, which currently manufactures washing machines.  Bosch is planning a major investment in its Chennai facility, Head, Brand (Stores), V Ranjith Nair, said here.  The senior company executive was in the city to launch Bosch's first brand store in Gujarat. 

"We have an investment plan of around Rs 400 crore for our facility in Chennai. Currently, front-loading washing  machines are manufactured at the facility. And it has a  capacity to produce over 300,000 units a year.  We now plan to utilise the entire plant to manufacture  other products," Nair said.  The Chennai plant is spread over an area of 42 acres.  Based on the market demand and research, once things  are finalised for the launch of next product, the Chennai  facility will be utilised for other manufacturing, he added. 

"The new 550 sq ft state-of-art store here (Vadodara) hosts the entire range of Bosch free-standing and built-in  appliances. With this brand store, Bosch will make the leading  German patent application more accessible to its customers in  the Western region," a company statement said.  At the store, company also introduced Volt Check feature  in the new range of washing machines for Gujarat and other  states of West India.  The volt check feature will help identify machine's  behaviour based on voltage fluctuations, it said.
