Being crowned Miss Vijayawada has opened up the expected avenue for 18-year-old Mangalampalli Sri Satya — that of being a film star. Sri Satya, who was crowned Miss Vijayawada in April this year, has become a celebrity in her hometown as she is currently acting in a movie named Godavari, with the sand mafia as a backdrop. Three other projects are also in the pipeline.
Daughter of businessman M. Durga Srinivas Prasad and M. Lalitha, Sri Satya was a regular girl-next-door and had little exposure to the world of modelling and films. That, however, changed and now she is acting opposite Havish along with Pooja Hedge as a co-star. She will also be working on a film with Avika Gor for a Vizag-based production house. “Earlier I was not into dancing or acting, but learnt the skills by watching movies and stars from the industry. It is going smooth as of now,” says Sri Satya, adding, “Most of my family and friends did not support my decision to act but I went ahead with the consent of my parents.”
“Since she took part in a ramp walk in school, she started showing interest in modelling but never ventured into it. She came across the Miss Vijayawada contest and wanted to take part,” says her father Srinivas Prasad. “We have no issues with our daughter’s interest in movies; we trust her. We don’t want to thwart her dreams,” says Prasad, who is a kin of legendary vocalist Mangalampalli Balamurali Krishna.
“We know the pros and cons of being part of the filmmaking business. My husband and I accompanied Satya throughout the 39 days of shoot (first schedule) for Godavari,” says her mother Lalitha.
Sri Satya could not appear for Eamcet-2015 due to her shooting schedule. Currently, she is pursuing BBM from a local college. Sri Satya has become a well-known face in Vijayawada and the police department, too, has roped her to act in short films to create awareness about social issues.
