Hyderabad: The row over funds between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana governments has not yet come to an end. The recent meeting of finance officials of both governments could not resolve the issue.
While the AP government claimed that the Telangana government has to pay Rs 1,309 crore to them, the Telangana government said that the AP government has to pay Rs 105 crore to them.
Even after the state’s division also, the AP government is paying the principal amount and interest to the Central loans taken in the combined state. The AP government asked the Telangana government to reimburse its share, but the latter did not respond favourably.
AP government officials said that they are allotting funds for maintenance and for salaries to the staff to the institutions listed in the 9th and 10th schedule of the State Reorganisation Act. Towards this, the AP government claims, the Telangana government has to pay Rs 755.92 crore to them. The Telangana government is also allotting funds for some of these institutions. The finance department officials expressed doubt that some institutions are getting funds from both governments and added that they are verifying this.
The TS government is arguing that AP did not release funds to them which were sanctioned by the Centre to some schemes. Recently AP has written a letter to the Accountant General’s office requesting not to deduct the funds from its account towards paying of Central loans and its interest of the TS government’s share.
