Hyderabad: Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan might be on his way out. Sources say that Union home minister Rajnath Singh reportedly made his intentions clear to a few leaders at an Iftar recently held at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

The sources said Mr Narasimhan will either be shifted to some other state or will be asked to put in his papers. “The development may take place anytime next month,” said sources. Mr Singh, during an informal chat at the Iftar, apparently told a few VVIPs that the central BJP leadership was in the process of searching for a replacement for Mr Narasimhan.

Mr Narasimhan has a little less than two years left in office. The move has been on the cards ever since there was criticism against his functioning by the AP government and a few political parties in Telangana regarding the handling of issues concerning both the states. Only Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandras-ekhar Rao has expressed satisfaction over his functioning.

The Centre, which has been entrusted with the job of resolving various disputes arising out of implementation of AP Reorganisation Act, has in practice been blaming Mr Narasimhan for not being active enough in attending to the grievances periodically pointed out by the AP government, particularly on implementation of Section 8 of the Act.
