Hyderabad: Student organisations have threatened to obstruct Eamcet medical counselling scheduled to begin from July 29 to protest the steep hike in the fee for medical and dental courses and increase in management quota seats.
Students organisations including the Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and Telugu Nadu Student Federation (TNSF) have scheduled a week-long agitation from July 22, demanding a rollback.
“Earlier, 10 per cent Category-B seats were offered to Eamcet rankers and the fee was Rs 2.4 lakh per year. The Telangana government has transferred these seats to the management quota and increased the fee from to Rs 9 lakh per year. Within 50 per cent management quota, a 15 per cent NRI quota has been created and the fee increased to Rs 11 lakh from Rs 5.50 lakh,” said J. Niranjan, Telangana State-ABVP secretary.
