Parineeti Chopra not Haryana ambassador for 'Beti Bachao' campaign, says minister
Health minister Anil Vij claims to be not kept in the loop about the appointment
Mumbai: The Haryana government recently launched the 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao: Call to Action' initiative, reconfirming its commitment to saving and educating its daughters. The Haryana Chief Minister Shri Manohar Lal, U.S. Ambassador to India, Mr. Richard Verma, Country Representative of UNICEF, Mr. Louis-Georges Arsenault, and renowned Bollywood actress, Parineeti Chopra helped inaugurate the important state-level initiative. The initiative promotes the survival, protection, education and empowerment of the girl child.
Social Justice, Empowerment and Women and Child Development Minister Kavita Jain at an event on Tuesday said, Haryana has not appointed Bollywood star Parineeti Chopra as the brand ambassador for the 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' campaign in the state. She said the Haryana government has not made any payment to Chopra for the purpose, and Chopra expressed her wish to work for the campaign without charging any fee.
The announcement of Parineeti being appointed as the brand ambasador was made on Tuesday evening at the grand launch of the campaign in Gurgaon by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. However, health minister Anil Vij, whose department is one of the key departments for the implementation of the programme, had claimed that he had not been kept in the loop about the appointment. In her defense Parineeti said that the decision was made late at night and it was announced before everybody could be brought in the loop.
Do you believe that because of political disagreements Parineeti has to bare the brunt of it?
