Girl appeals to teacher to be saved from 'perverted' parents

Mumbai: She was raped by her father, in front of her mother, who inturn did nothing to help her. But this 13-year-old class VII girl from Navi Mumbai finally has some respite after writing to her teacher about her ordeals. 

According to a report in Mid-Day, the girl wrote to her teacher, "My father raped me and my mother is not helping,". The teacher, on receiving the letter, immediately contacted a local NGO in Vashi. The NGO rescued the girl and registered an FIR with the Vashi police regarding the abusive father, who works as a fruit vendor.  

"My father raped me in front of my mother. After this, my mother would offer me some pills. He has been raping me since I was 7-year-old. Despite complaining to my mother, she refused to help me," the victim has reportedly told the police. The police are investigating if the pills given were contraceptives. 

The teenager has 3 brothers and an elder sister. Her father would rape her when the siblings were away, she said in the statement. Victim's elder sister does not live with the family but it has come to light that she too was sexually assaulted by their 45-year-old father. The mother claimed that the allegations are false and that she came to know of the rape only two weeks ago. 

It has also been revealed that the girl had approached the neighbours for help, but they refused to be involved and told her to approach the cops by herself. 

The accused and his wife have been booked for rape. The teenager is currently in a chidlren's home owned by the NGO.
