Hyderabad: In a surprise move, the state government on Tuesday decided against extending the tenure of Prof. N.V. Ramana Rao as registrar of JNTU-H and named Dr N. Yadaiah as his replacement.
Asked for the reason for the sudden change, Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari said Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao did not want to continue with the incumbent in the wake of numerous allegations of irregularities in the recent inspections of private engineering colleges.
Prof. Yadaiah has most recently served as convenor of ECET 2015. Several colleges and even student unions had alleged wrongdoing on part of JNTU-H officials during inspections. Officials in the Telangana State Council of Higher Education felt there were no financial irregularities but an absolute lack of transparency in the inspections process
“What is so secretive about inspections of colleges. They should have been more transparent,” a TSCHE official said.
