Kodarma: In a major embarrassment to BJP-led Jharkhand government, state Education Minister Neera Yadav paid homage to former President APJ Abdul Kalam at an event in Kodarma by garlanding his photo.

According to reports, Yadav was attending a school function in Hazaribagh district.

The minister drew flak for her actions and the incident raised questions over her lack of knowledge as she paid homage to a living person.

In her defence, Yadav said that in schools, photos of great leaders are garlanded to honour them. She further said that Kalam is a great scientist and there is nothing objectionable in garlanding his picture.
