GUNTUR: Villagers in the capital region were seen weighing the pros and cons of the final master plan, including the impact of future expansion of Amaravati to 1 lakh acres, on Tuesday. While most welcomed the new master plan, some were concerned about it. They said they may not be able to adapt to the developments and feared they would feel displaced in the uber urban hub.
Locals were seen reading newspapers to learn about the SACMP and discuss its impact on Venkata-palem, Mandadam, Velagapudi, Malkapuram, Tullur, Rayapudi and other villages. Singaporean planners proposed the capital in three phases: Phase-1 to be developed across 15,280 hectares (37,758 acres) in 10 years. The CRDA has pooled 33,500 acres and is trying to procure the remaining through land acquisition for the first phase.
