THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: With K.R. Gowri making it clear that the property owned by her outfit would automatically get transferred to CPM after merger, the Janadipathya Samrakshana Samithi (JSS) led by A N Rajan Babu is getting ready for legal battle.
Gowriamma is set to announce merger with CPM on August 19 when she officially accepts the party membership. The JSS owns 7 cents of land and a building in Thiruvanathapuram, land and building in Alappuzha and four cents in Thuravaoor.
“Though the property owned by the JSS is registered by Gowriamma in her capacity as the party general secretary, she will cease to have any ownership right after joining the CPM,” said JSS state president A N Rajan Babu.
He claimed that majority of the 120 members state committee members are with JSS and had refused to cross over to CPM along with Gowriamma. He said even district committees have pledged support to the official leadership of JSS and they are not interested in splitting the party to join CPM.
“We have also submitted a petition to Election Commission to recognise us as the official JSS and allot the party symbol.
The matter will be decided soon,” said Mr Rajan Babu. On the property issue, he said that a civil case would be filed at the earliest to ensure that the buildings and land are not handed over to CPM.
Meanwhile, Gowriamma has made it clear that the property owned by the party belonged to her and would be transferred to the CPM. She refuted the claims Rajan Babu.
