HyderabadStudents allotted seats in the first phase counselling of TS Eamcet should not report at the engineering college before the end of the second phase, officials said on Tuesday.

Authorities have introduced a new system of allowing students to accept allotted seats online, doing away with physical reporting. The admission fee can also be paid through a challan at any branch of the State Bank of Hyderabad rather than that at the college.

Officials said the changes were brought this year to prevent engineering colleges from confiscating students’ original certificates and not refunding special fee extracted from students in the name of NBA accreditation and so forth.

TS Eamcet camp officer B Srinivas said, “Even after seat acceptance in the first round, students will be eligible for sliding in the second phase of counselling. But they have to exercise their options very carefully in the second phase. Students will have to enter options for better colleges than they were allotted in the first phase.”

He said students should submit the original certificates at the college only after the second phase of counselling. The first phase seat allotment is scheduled for July 24.

As many as 61,662 students exercised web options in the first phase.
