Hyderabad: Telangana TD leaders, after meeting Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan to lodge a fresh complaint against minister Talasani Srinivasa Yadav, on Tuesday staged a dharna outside the Raj Bhavan entrance to protest the attitude of the Governor.
They were taken into police custody. TD leaders, led by state party president L. Ramana and leader of TD legislature party Erraballi Dayakar Rao, met the Governor and reiterated their demand for taking action against the minister who had been continuing without resigning from his membership in the Assembly.
However, Governor Naras-imhan conveyed to them that he could not initiate any action since the matter was in court and with the Assembly Speaker.
The Telugu Desam leaders argued that the Governor, as head of Legislature and the Constitution, had the power to initiate action whenever infringement of constitutional provisions took place and Mr Yadav’s case fit the bill.
When the Governor withdrew from the Durbar Hall where he met the TD leaders, the MLAs and party leaders came outside and staged a sit out. The police swung into action and whisked them away to the Panjagutta police station where they were later released.
