Hyderabad: A woman snatched a 16- month-old infant from her mother and fled from the MGBS on Tuesday night. The victim S. Gangamma from Mahbubnagar had come to the city alone.

Gangamma, who was sitting at the MGBS bus station waiting for her husband, met the woman in her early 30s, and had a brief conversation. “The woman asked her why she was waiting at the bus station. She told the victim that it was dangerous to be in the bus station at night and offered to take her to her house,” said Kacheguda inspector D. Raj Kumar.

Later, the woman gave some money to Gangamma and asked her to buy sweets. “When the victim started walking towards the shop, the woman took the infant in her hand. However, when Gangamma returned the woman and the baby had disappeared,” said the inspector.
