Chennai Corporation schools set to add 100 more KG sections
Approval document is expected to be placed for ratification before the council this month
Chennai: The corporation of Chennai is set to add as many as 100 kindergarten sections to its schools in its bid to improve student intake, officials said. The approval document for the project is expected to be placed for ratification before the council this month. With this, the total number of KG sections in corporation schools will increase to 165.
However, the admission process in the newly added KG sections is already in progress and classes will begin shortly. “This addition has been in the pipeline for some time now. Technical delays had held back its announcement for a few months,” said a senior official.
Already, the significant addition to the existing infra has resulted in an astronomical rise in number of children flocking to corporation schools. Admissions to KG section, which stood at 5,400 in 2014-15 now stands at 9,200 and counting for the current academic year.
