Sri Lanka woos Indians for MICE tourism

Hyderabad: Sri Lankan Airlines and Sri Lanka Convention Bureau on Thursday pitched for hosting Indian corporates and tourists in the island nation. Showcasing the country’s MICE (meetings, incentives, conventions, conferences, exhibitions) potential, Sri Lanka Tourism said that the country has recorded 1.44 lakh MICE visitors in 2014.

Total tourist arrivals in the country, meanwhile, has tripled in five years to over 15 lakh in 2014 from five lakh in 2009. According to Sri Lankan Airlines, the country had hosted 62 international conferences in 2014 and 70 conferences are lined up to be organised in 2015.
