Crime Branch collects evidence in Marangattupally custodial death case
However, he admitted that the police who took him into custody had committed certain lapses in the case
Kottayam: The Crime Branch team investigating the death of Siby, 40, of Marangattupally collected evidence from the crime spot with the help of a forensic expert on Thursday.
The team led by DySP Johnson Joseph visited the government hospital at Marangattupally and gathered evidence from the hospital staff.
An expert from the forensic sciences laboratory in Thiruvananthapuram helped the team in collecting evidence from the place where Siby and the boy, 16, who was made an accused, allegedly engaged in an altercation.
“The technical evidence, including the GPS system of the police vehicle and the call details, will help us to reach a conclusion. It is too early to say whether it was custody death or due to other reasons,” Mr Johnson Joseph told DC.
However, he admitted that the police who took him into custody had committed certain lapses in the case.
The CB will also study the statement given to the State Human Rights Commission by the boy that a circle inspector had asked him to go into hiding.
