Telangana Congress opposes Pranahita-Chevella project redesign

Hyderabad: Opposing the change in the Pranahita-Chevella project design, the Telangana Congress Pradesh Committee has demanded that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao convene the Assembly to discuss the issue or call an all-party meeting immediately.

State party chief Uttam Kumar Reddy convened a meeting of senior party leaders and experts on the issue at Gandhi Bhavan here on Thursday.

Congress Floor leader K. Jana Reddy doubted the government plan to provide irrigation to 15,000 acres with one TMC of water under Pranahita Chevella, Palamuru-Ranga Reddy lift irrigation and other schemes. “As per my information, one TMC can provide water to 5,000 to 6,000 acres,” he said.
