Hyderabad: After CBSE schools, yoga might become part of the state-run schools’ curriculum as well from next year. Faculty from government school teachers’ training institutes are being sent to the Swami Vivekananda  Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana (SVYASA) — also known as the Yoga University — in Bengaluru next month for a two-day training session on yoga.

CBSE has already told its affiliated schools to hold yoga classes twice a week for Class XI and XII students. The National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE) has also released modules on yoga education for teacher training institutes imparting training for elementary and masters of education courses.

Teachers will also be asked to take part in a 10-day yoga training session scheduled for later or learn yoga basics on their own. This will be mandatory.
A senior TS education ministry official said, “It is a part of physical and health education. There is a two-day training session at the Yoga University in  Bengaluru on August 9 and 10 for primers on yoga education.”
