Chennai: Malaysian students held for assaulting college mate

Chennai: The Maduravoyal police arrested four students, from Malaysia, for allegedly assaulting another student staying with them. The arrested were identified as Indiran, 23, Navin, 22, Povendran 23 and Bhuvneshwaran of 23.
Police said that the four assaulted their roommate Valiappan, a native of Tirupur, pursuing dental course in college where the accused were also studying.
On Thursday they asked him to withdraw money from the ATM from their respective accounts to buy snacks and drinks. Valiappan allegedly withdrew an extra Rs 10,000 secretly. The four who came to know of this questioned him.
They together assaulted him after which the dental student Valiappan was admitted to Rajiv Gandhi general hospital where he is being treated.
Based on his complaint from his father, the police nabbed the four students from Malaysia on charges of assault leading to injury and remanded them to judicial
custody.
